When Barbara Stewart started her custom framing shop out of her home on College Street in 1952, she didn’t expect that her company would one day become the premiere interior design company in Bowling Green, Kentucky. Fast forward to today and her Downtown design firm is providing quality service to thousands of customers each year. What has now become a staple to the Bowling Green community, Barbara Stewart Interiors offers gifts, bridal registries, décor, furnishing and interior design services to everyone who walks through the doors of 444 East Main Avenue.

Whether selecting one special piece or working from new construction, we can provide fabrics, wall coverings, flooring, area rugs, artwork, decorative accessories, draperies and beddings to all of our clients. Our design services, combined with our on-site custom invitations boutique, custom gifts and engraving make us a one-stop shop for all our shopper’s needs whether in person or online.

Owner, Interior Designer

Susan Hoechner

The daughter of Barbara Stewart, Susan was exposed to the world of art and design at an early age. As a native of Bowling Green, KY, Susan followed in her mother’s footsteps and launched her own interior design career after graduating from Western Kentucky University. Since then, she has worked on both commercial and residential design projects, eventually becoming design director for a leading office furniture dealer in North Carolina and Lexington, KY before returning to Barbara Stewart Interiors in 1994. Apart from being an interior designer, Susan designs for the custom framing department, operates the company and is a certified color specialist.

Interior Designer

Tim Minor

Tim’s interior design career spans over 25 years. After graduating from Western Kentucky University with a degree in set design and lighting, he worked in manufacturing supplying materials to the furniture industry. Following his stint in furniture manufacturing, Tim launched his own design business with a custom drapery workroom and specialize in painting finishes. He has since gained national attention as a premiere designer, traveling across the United States creating beautiful living spaces and commercial interiors.

Invitation Designer

Paige Caffee

Paige, one of the newest members of our team, has over 10 years of experience in retail and retail management. She followed her love for all-things-bridal here to serve as the Invitation Designer after holding various positions in the wedding industry.

Her Bachelors of Science degree that she obtained from Western Kentucky University in Fashion Merchandising makes her a family and friend favorite as they have their very own fashion expert on call. Paige accepts this esteemed title due to her love of creating visuals with both textiles and decor.

When Paige is home she loves the simple life. Exploring all the wonderful beauties of nature, a passion for learning, and spending time with her three precious cats.

Mitchell Rabold-Pearson

Mitchell comes toBarbara Stewart Interiors after 15 years in the tourism industry. Thanks to his previous positions, he’s well versed in marketing, sales and hospitality. He is a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University with abachelor’s degree in Parks and RecreationAdministration with an emphasis in Tourism/Resort Management. Having grown upon a farm outside of Berea, Kentucky, Mitchell has a passion for local history, art, and culture.

Mitchell enjoys customizing frames that are unique to each client’s needs. Mitchell also works in floral design, which has been a huge passion of his since his youth. In his spare time, he enjoys gardening and antiquing with his spouse.

Cheryl Donison

Cheryl comes to us with over 30 years of retail experience from all over the United States. After living in Virginia, Delaware, North Carolina, South Carolina and Michigan, she now calls Kentucky her home.

Since 2016 she and her husband Marc, along with their two children, Yorkies Bailey and Skittles, have lived in Bowling Green. Cheryl’s love of southern tradition and hospitality have found her quite welcome in our friendly, little town.

An avid knitter, she holds a deep appreciation for fine craftsmanship, making her a perfect fit for our team. Cheryl takes great pride in exceptional customer service and support.
