The Frame Shop

THERE’s nothing our designers can’t frame

Framing Services

Barbara Stewart Interiors was built on the foundation of our custom frame shop, which started the business in 1952. A trained portrait artist and restorer, Barbara Stewart began what would later become our interior design firm by creating custom picture framing and selling antiques out of her home. We now boast an entire custom frame shop workspace on the second floor of our Downtown Bowling Green location. From canvas art and oil paintings, to unique 3-D shadowboxes and keepsakes, there’s nothing our designers can’t frame. We execute suitable methods and techniques for long-term preservation using conservation framing, to make it truly a memorable piece.

Framing Fit for a President

When Western Kentucky University decided to restore the original President’s Home and move the Office of the President to its location, the Barbara Stewart Interiors Frame Shop was eager to help. In each room of the home you’ll find custom-framed art, photos and newspaper clippings designed and constructing in the Barbara Stewart Interiors framing studio. This year-long project was carefully thought out, taking the design of the entire house into consideration when selecting molding and mating for each frame. When walking throughout the home-turned-office, you’ll see consistent designs throughout the house. Not only did Dale, our frame expert and carpenter, build the frames, but he also installed each of them in the home.

Restaurant Style

Custom framing is more than creating display pieces. Our framers are historic preservationists. So when Western Kentucky University asked us to frame photos and memorabilia from the campus’ history, we were up to the challenge. Displayed in one of the university’s many food halls are custom prints and newspaper clippings from WKU’s history. The sleek, metal frames are simple, but provide a stark contrast to the white mats and black and white photos. Dale, our framing carpenter, not only built the frames, but also installed them in the dining hall.

Friendly Neighbors

Our Downtown Bowling Green location is ideal because we get to work alongside other wonderful businesses. Baird Financial Services next door to our framing studio recently renovated their office space, which required new decor. From hallways and waiting areas, to conference rooms and personal offices, Barbara Stewart Interiors framed select artwork throughout the office building. Traditional, elegant and timeless molding on white mats are seen consistently around the building, creating a succinct and seamless look. Barbara Stewart Interiors provided both the design and framing of the prints, as well as installation services.
